Gite Le Château to Le Grais - to 12 Km of Bagnoles De L'orne

A gîte of character and charm, with a very nice welcome from the proprietors. It is a good centre for exploring both southern Normandy and further north, such as Bayeux, Caen and the D-Day beaches. It is both in the country and near the town of La Ferté Macé, so well placed for shopping.

Un grand merci pour un accueil très chaleureux ! Madame et Monsieur de Jacquelot ont été aussi charmants que discrets. Le château est une très belle maison et nous avons particulièrement apprecié les chambres et le salon dans le donjon médiéval avec son intérieur historique (du 18ème siècle? - le parquet, les cheminées, les panneaux muraux avec les placards...). On sent qu'ils préservent le château avec goût et passion. Et avec tout le confort moderne, la salle de bain et la cuisine sont bien aménagées et équipées. Et merci et compliments pour la délicieuse confiture maison ! --- Ein großes Dankeschön für einen sehr herzlichen Empfang! Frau und Herr de Jacquelot waren ebenso charmant wie diskret. Das Schloss ist ein sehr schönes Haus und wir mochten besonders die Schlafzimmer und das Wohnzimmer im mittelalterlichen Verlies mit seiner historischen Inneneinrichtung (aus dem 18. Jahrhundert? - das Parkett, die Kamine, die Wandverkleidungen mit den Schränken...). Man spürt, dass sie das Schloss mit Geschmack und Leidenschaft erhalten. Und mit allen modernen Annehmlichkeiten, das Badezimmer und die Küche sind gut eingerichtet und ausgestattet. Und danke und Kompliment für die leckere selbstgemachte Marmelade!

We have enjoyed four weeks of chateau-life in Le Grais from mid June to mid July this year. Everything was in bloom with birdsong all around. The view from the windows is fantastic with all the old trees and the lake in front of the chateau. You can do forest-walks to arrive at other lakes directly from the chateau. The interior is really chateau-like, you are surrounded by antiques and really feel transposed into a different world. With its 130 m2 the gite is really spacious! You can park your car in a yard directly in front of the Gite and there are no stairs. It is not far from a lot of picturesque villages (St Ceneri le Gerei e.g) and other Chateaux, and nearby Bagnoles de l’Orne has its special atmosphere, with its Casino area and also the Belle Epoche quarter. The seaside is about an hours drive away. Ferte Mace (only about ten minutes away) has got all the supermarkets you need. Thanks a lot to the very friendly and helpful hosts. We will definitely return next year!

C'est un lieu très agréable, même en hiver (balades en forêt, soirées au coin du feu...). Les chambres sont spacieuses et très confortables. La cuisine est très bien équipée. Les hôtes, très prévenants, sont d'une grande gentillesse et très disponibles.

An elegant and comfortable groundfloor appartement. The owners are sweethearts and very helpful. The bedrooms are boarding and you have to go through one bedroom to come into the bathroom, no problem for us. Beautiful surrounding.

This is such a great Gite. Staying in your own little bit of the chateau. Wonderful antiques, parquet floors, fully equipped kitchen. In the midst of beautiful Normandy countryside. Lots of things around to do, or just walking in the grounds of the chateau. I was with my disabled child and other son, it is fully accessible with no steps , so great for those less mobile. I heartily recommend this Gite !

Gîte bien situé en plein cœur de la Normandie et au décor intérieur exceptionnel. Grand et bien agencé, très bien équipé, ce gîte nous a tous emballés. Le salon avec sa grande cheminée a été la pièce "de référence" de mes grands enfants. Propriétaires très aimables et accueillants. Voisinage tranquille, campagnard et apaisant, à deux pas de la forêt. Très belles vues sur le parc et l'étang depuis les chambres. Nous nous sommes vraiment beaucoup plus et n'avons pas vu le temps passer...

Das Landschloss "Le Grais" ist ein Herrenhaus in der südlichen Normandie, liegt in einem großen Park und ist von Feldern, Weiden, Wäldern und Bauernhöfen umgeben. Die Ferienwohnung liegt im westlichen Teil des Schlosses, das auch von den Besitzern bewohnt wird, besitzt aber einen eigenen Eingang und bietet somit viel Privatsphäre. Die Wohnung ist großzügig geschnitten, verfügt über ein großes Esszimmer, eine ebenfalls große und sehr gut ausgestattete Küche, einen Eingangbereich mit Sitzmöglichkeiten, zwei Schlafzimmer, ein Badezimmer, eine zweite, separate Toilette und, als Höhepunkt, einen eleganten Salon mit Kamin. Die Wohnung ist liebevoll ausgestattet, etwa mit schönen antiken Möbeln, Gemälden, hochwertigem Geschirr und Besteck, so dass man sich hier sehr wohlfühlen kann. Auch an Kleinigkeiten wurde gedacht (Tischdecken, Verdunklungsmöglichkeiten, viele Küchengeräte, Leselampen, WLAN-Router, ...) Draußen gibt es eine große, sonnige Terrasse (mit großem Sonnenschirm) und auch Sitzplätze unter alten, schattenspendenden Bäumen. Neben dem Schloss befindet sich ein Milchviehbetrieb, der aber kaum stört. Erfreulich ist, dass man keinen Straßenlärm hört. In direkter Umgebung des Schlosses gibt es erstaunlich abwechslungsreiche Wälder, die zu Spaziergängen einladen, mit dem Auto kann man auch leicht viele Sehenswürdigkeiten in der Umgebung erkunden, zumal, selbst im Sommer, die Straßen in diesem Teil der Normandie wenig befahren sind. Lohnenswert sind etwa Tagesausflüge in die Normannische Schweiz (La Roche d'Oëtre), in die Alpes Mancelles (St-Céneri-le-Gerei), nach Alencon, Argentan und Sées (spätgotische Kirchen) oder nach Domfront (Altstadt, romanische Kirche). Die Vermieter sind sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Für die Größe und Ausstattung der Wohnung ist der Preis erstaunlich günstig - ideal für einen ruhigen Urlaub in ländlicher Umgebung.

Nous avons séjourné dans cette magnifique demeure du 30 juillet au 6 aout 2022, le cadre est enchanteur. Tous les matins je regardais le levé du soleil avec cette brume qui ondulait sur l'étang c'était féérique. La location est décorée avec beaucoup de gout rideaux somptueux. Je remercie les propriétaires pour leur accueil et leur gentillesse. Lieu à faire une fois dans sa vie. C'était la vie de château.

Nous avons apprécié les lieux, le calme et la nature environnante. Par ces temps de canicule, le logement gardait toute sa fraîcheur et permettait un séjour très reposant
